With reference to Mr. May's Des-

-patch No. 198 of the 11th. of May, 1904, I have the honour

to transmit for your information 6 copies of the Report of

the Po Leung Kuk for the year 1904.

2.

The Institution continues to dis-

-charge its valuable work in a satisfactory manner.

3.

The outbreak of Beri-beri that

occurred last year was made the subject of a special in-

-vestigation by Drs. Koch and Hunter. Their report has not

yet reached me.

4.

Steps are being taken on Sanitary

grounds to increase the open space about the Building and

to afford a small recreation ground for the inmates by

taking in part of a public street which is disused and a

portion of the adjoining property of the Tung Wa Hospital.

5.

I propose that in future the
